Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stryker Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stryker Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Xavier Frost!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Frost throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Payne staying out of range there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Payne throws a right and a left that both miss.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Frost.
Frost has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Payne is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Payne throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Frost moves out of range as Payne strikes.
Frost feints a counter leg kick.
A jab from Payne misses.

Payne waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Frost.
Payne moves out of range of the body kick.
Payne misses with an uppercut.
Payne throws a series of punches but Frost avoids them all with ease.
Payne throws an off balance right hand
and Frost counters with a nice kick to the body.
Payne takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Payne misses with a series of wild punches.
Frost throws the left hand but Payne avoids the punch easily.
Payne was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Payne misses with a combination
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Frost closes the distance and pushes Payne back into the cage.

Payne blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Frost lands an uppercut.
A short right from Frost.
Payne wants to get back to striking at distance but Frost won't allow it.
Frost swings wildly with an uppercut but Payne uses good head movement to avoid it.
Frost tries to throw a body punch but Payne avoids it by throwing Frost back against the cage.
Frost fails to pull guard.
Frost lands on the inside with an uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Frost.
A left hand lands to the body for Frost.
Frost fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Frost is trying to pull guard but Payne has him pressed against the cage.
Frost tries to pull guard but Payne forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Stryker Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Xavier Frost.
Frost misses with a punch on the inside.
Payne wants to get back to striking at distance but Frost won't allow it.

Payne blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Payne breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Frost wants to counter the offense by Payne and move into the clinch position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Payne tries to bum rush Frost with a series of wild strikes but Frost uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Payne takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Frost throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Payne on the side of the head.
Frost throws a right and a left that Payne avoids nicely.
Frost lands with a straight right. Payne didn't see that one coming.
Payne fails to land with a series of punches.

and Frost counters with a good low kick that Payne was not able to check.

Frost slips under a jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Frost! But no joy.
Frost keeps Payne at a distance using the push kick.
Payne takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
A bone on bone clash there as Payne blocks the leg kick.
Payne takes a kick to the side of the head.
Frost throws a leg kick but Payne checks it.
Payne is looking to counter punch.
Xavier Frost seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Frost doesn't manage to clinch there - Payne circles away.
Frost has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Payne throws a left and a right that both miss
and Frost counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Payne gets tackled into the cage by Frost. Frost maintains the clinch.
I was talking to Payne's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Frost scores with a nice hook to the head.
Frost scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Frost ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Frost no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Payne has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Frost is proving hard to escape from.

Payne got a little sloppy there for a moment and Frost has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Payne has managed to get both his arms back between Frost's legs - danger averted.

Frost looking to control.

Frost looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Payne passes into side control.
Frost is looking for a sweep.
Payne working away.
Payne taking a breather here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Frost is trying to get back to half guard.
Frost gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Frost is looking to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Frost trying to get back to full guard but Payne takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Xavier Frost showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Frost scores with a jab. Payne acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Frost gets a clinch.
Frost keeps control of Payne as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Xavier Frost seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Payne tries to break the clinch but Frost is controlling the position.
Payne is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Frost lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Payne backwards.

Frost pulls guard successfully.

Frost is pulling down on Payne's head to control his posture.
Frost is trying to keep Payne in close.

Frost is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Payne is aware though and is defending well.

Frost looking for a guillotine here but Payne defends easily.

Stryker Payne has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Frost is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Payne has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Frost is trying to hold Payne in close to prevent damage but Payne has managed to pass into half guard.
Frost is looking to control Payne's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Frost avoid being mounted?

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Frost is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Payne is staying active.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Payne throws a lazy uppercut
and Frost counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Frost lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Payne scores with a hook to the body. Frost takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

And that's the end of the fight!
Xavier Frost comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Frost has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
