PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jon Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bright Heather (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Barnes might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ATL. Bright Heather has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bright Heather !
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heather is looking to clinch.
Barnes throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Heather slips a jab and a cross from Barnes.

Barnes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Barnes lands in his opponent's guard.
Heather looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Barnes landing with the ground and pound.
Barnes wants to stand but Heather is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barnes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Heather has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barnes has managed to get both his arms back between Heather 's legs - danger averted.
Heather looks winded!

Heather is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barnes defends well.

Barnes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Barnes's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Heather had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barnes defends it easily.
Barnes is in close to Heather 's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Heather has momentary wrist control but Barnes slips an elbow through the middle.
Barnes lands a couple of digs.

Barnes postures up and lands a big shot to Heather 's brow.

Barnes stands up from Heather 's guard - Barnes perhaps looking for a knockout.

Heather is rocked!
Heather takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Barnes lands a nice looking body kick.

Heather takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Heather on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Heather is still on wobbly legs! Can Barnes finish him?
A nice inside leg kick there by Barnes. That's going to slow Heather down.
Barnes looks to land a combination but Heather avoids it well.
Heather seems to have recovered his senses.
Barnes is pawing at Heather , trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Heather 's nose. Heather is badly hurt! Barnes pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Heather tries desperately to hold on but Barnes is relentless in his assault! As Heather receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Barnes away and this one is in the books!

Jon Barnes was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
