The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelton throws a good cross that connects.
Shelton keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A big right from Matienzo misses.
Matienzo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Matienzo avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Shelton counters with a nice right hand that sends Matienzo toppling to the canvas! Matienzo scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Shelton finish him?!

It looks like Yoel Matienzo has been cut.

Yoel Matienzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shelton throws a right hand that Matienzo ducks under and follows up with a left that Matienzo also avoids with ease.
Shelton takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Shelton counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Matienzo tries for a takedown but Shelton circles away easily

and Shelton counters with a crisp right hand that drops Matienzo! Shelton lets Matienzo back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Shelton throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Matienzo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've been informed that Shelton has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Shelton throws an overhand right that has Matienzo reeling! Shelton follows up with more punches and Matienzo is out cold! This one is all over!
