Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of New York, Tyrus Shakur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Helsinki, Joe Maximez!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Bruno Hogan and Darius Henderson.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maximez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Shakur controlling the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maximez prevents Shakur from standing back up.

Maximez is looking to advance position but Shakur won't allow it.
Maximez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Shakur tries to roll over but Maximez keeps him under control.
Maximez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Shakur!

Shakur is looking to improve his position but Maximez isn't that keen on the idea.
Maximez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

It looks like Maximez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Maximez won't let Shakur get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Maximez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Let's hope that Maximez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Maximez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shakur keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shakur is in all sorts of trouble here.

Maximez on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Maximez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Maximez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shakur trying to control the position from guard on top but Maximez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shakur has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maximez is on top in guard.

Maximez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Maximez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Maximez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shakur has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Maximez has managed to get both his arms back between Shakur's legs - danger averted.

Maximez passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Joe Maximez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Maximez shoots in and drives through. Shakur sprawls well.

Shakur looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Maximez has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Shakur should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Maximez has tightened it up now! Shakur should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
