Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fergal O Shaunnessy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Fergal O Shaunnessy enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ken Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fergal O Shaunnessy!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Shaunnessy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Masters napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masters is looking to reverse the position.
O Shaunnessy trying to control the action but Masters is working from the bottom.
O Shaunnessy is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Masters slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Shaunnessy looking to sit in guard and control but Masters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Masters is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
O Shaunnessy can't keep his opponent in guard - Masters advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Masters frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
O Shaunnessy wants to control but Masters is having none of it.
Masters lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Masters lands a couple of good shots and O Shaunnessy has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Masters trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure O Shaunnessy doesn't escape.
Masters connects with a big shot to the side of O Shaunnessy's head.
Masters lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Masters controls the action.
Masters landing with strikes.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Masters is punishing O Shaunnessy with some ground and pound.
Masters looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Masters gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Can O Shaunnessy hold on?! Masters is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Masters is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
O Shaunnessy covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Masters scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. O Shaunnessy is looking for a way out.
Masters is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Masters gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Masters gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Masters apologises and we restart here on the feet.
O Shaunnessy tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Masters counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Masters working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Masters scoring with strikes to the body and head.


O Shaunnessy is rocked!

Nice strikes from Masters there.
O Shaunnessy is still in real trouble! Can Masters finish him?
O Shaunnessy looks winded!
Masters working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Masters stalling.
Masters scores with a big shot! O Shaunnessy's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save O Shaunnessy! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ken Masters!
An out of breath Ken Masters thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
