Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Broken Brilliance!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brilliance looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Richard is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Brilliance.
Brilliance changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richard tries to avoid it but Brilliance manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richard to the ground. Richard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Richard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brilliance as he avoids it easily.

Brilliance fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Richard, pushing him back against the cage.
Richard drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brilliance gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Richard has Brilliance pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brilliance manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Richard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Richard manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Brilliance stopping the sweep attempt from Richard.

Brilliance drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Brilliance jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Richard looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brilliance tries to stand but Richard is controlling from the bottom.
Brilliance distracts Richard with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Richard trying to strike off his back.
Brilliance postures up and lands a big shot to Richard's brow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richard working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Brilliance has passed into half guard!
Richard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Brilliance is trying for a kimura here. Richard looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Brilliance wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Broken Brilliance!
An out of breath Broken Brilliance thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
