Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Cotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Donald Evans!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Evans misses with a low kick.
Cotto jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Evans throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Evans loads up on a big right hand but Cotto slips the punch.
Cotto pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Evans swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Cotto swats away the attempt to clinch by Evans.
Cotto looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Evans moves into range and clinches up with Cotto.
Cotto misses with a body punch.
Evans misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Evans blocks an uppercut.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Evans jumps guard and drags Cotto to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Evans moves into range and clinches up with Cotto.

Evans throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Cottos head.
Evans tries to throw a body punch but Cotto avoids it by throwing Evans back against the cage.

Evans takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cotto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Evans moves away.

and Cotto cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Nice defenses there by Evans.
Cotto cracks Evans with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Evans wants a takedown but no success here.

That was a close round but I would say that Miguel Cotto will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Evans throws a combination. Cotto tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cotto feints and then cracks Evans's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Evans down.
Evans tries to clinch up but Cotto circles away and keeps his distance.
Cotto throws the left hand but Evans avoids the punch easily.
Cotto on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Evans looks to land a left hand but Cotto moved out of range nicely.
Evans chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cotto can pounce on him.
Evans catches Cotto with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Evans is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cotto won't allow Evans to get back to his feet.

Evans is looking to stand up but Cotto isn't so interested in that idea.

I was talking to Cotto's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
