PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Blahyi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Don Curry is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Joshua Blahyi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Don Curry!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Curry. Blahyi does a little dance to reset his feet.
Blahyi tries to counter with a takedown but Curry is quick to defend against it.
Curry scores with a punch to the head.
Blahyi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Curry feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Blahyis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Curry thuds his right hand into Blahyi's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Blahyi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Curry scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Blahyi doesn't seem bothered though.
Curry misses with a hook

and Blahyi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Blahyi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Curry is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Curry has escaped and now he's on top!


Blahyi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Curry is aware though and is defending well.

Blahyi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Curry doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Curry manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Blahyi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Curry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Blahyi looking for a guillotine here but Curry defends easily.

Blahyi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Curry wants to get up but he can't break Blahyi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blahyi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Curry trying to stand up but can't free himself from Blahyi's guard.

Blahyi has his foot on Curry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Curry works his way back into a safe position though.
Curry wants to stand but Blahyi is controlling his posture from full guard.

Blahyi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Curry escapes and throws Blahyi's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Blahyi is looking for a sweep.

Curry tries to stand but Blahyi is controlling his head.
Blahyi is looking to regain half guard here but Curry keeps moving and retains side control.

Blahyi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Blahyi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Curry pulls his head out easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Curry wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Curry dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Curry lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Curry connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Curry thows a left - swing and a miss!
Blahyi half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Nice shot by Curry.
Curry wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Curry lands with a right hand.
The fighters circle momentarily. Curry darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Joshua Blahyi has been cut.
A jab lands there for Curry.


Blahyi is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Curry drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Blahyi's head, knocking him out cold! Curry is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Don Curry!
As Don Curry got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: First of all to Nikola... good fight brother. Now I just want to say that at the end of the day there can only be 1 winner and today I was the better fighter and got the win. Taking nothing away from Nikola's team of trainers. Thank you all for supporting me and I'll see you at the next fight.'.
