PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Armando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Krylov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Diego Armando!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergei Krylov!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armando looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nice takedown defense from Krylov. No joy for Armando on that attempt.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Armando throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Armando misses with a combination

and Krylov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Krylov has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Armando regains guard immediately.

Krylov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Armando manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Krylov has Armando in his guard.


Krylov wriggles free and stands up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Krylov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Krylov accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Krylov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Krylov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Krylov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Armando is breathing heavily.
Krylov content to stall in guard here.
It looks like Krylov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Krylov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Krylov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Krylov feints and as Armando raises his hands in defense, Krylov changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Krylov forces his way into half guard.
Krylov is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Krylov uses his free foot to push down on Armando's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Armando.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Armando is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergei Krylov dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Krylov is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Armando is in big trouble! Krylov is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Armando. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Sergei Krylov!
