PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King has chosen The Beast as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Austin King is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Herbert Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Austin King!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King checks a leg kick.
Larson lands with a thumping leg kick.
King throws a leg kick but Larson checks it.
Larson slips under a jab.
A nice leg kick lands there from Larson.
King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Larson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Larson throws a right hand that King ducks under and follows up with a left that King also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Larson stalks King and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into King's face. King staggers backwards, shaken.
King throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Larson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
Larson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract King.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than King was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Larson sneaks out the side door and pushes King away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Larson moves into the clinch successfully.
King tries to land knees in the clinch but Larson avoids the damage to the body.
Larson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as King walks away with a smile on his face. Larson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Larson tries to clinch but King is having none of it.
Larson avoids the head kick by King.
Larson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. King sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from King. Larson does a little dance to reset his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
King looks winded!
King circles away from the clinch attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King blocks a head kick by Larson.
Danga de danga de dang - Larson scores with a four punch combination!
A nice combination there by Larson.
Larson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
King dodges the punch combination from Larson.
Larson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Larson avoids the body shot from King.
It looked like Larson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Larson throws a head kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Larson clinches.
King can't find room to land a body shot as Larson controls the action.

King breaks the clinch.
Austin King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Larson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
King sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Larson trying to keep a closed guard but King is proving a slippery customer.
Larson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Larson looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but King is defending well. Larson quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! King has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Larson celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Herbert Larson!
