PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pascual Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Randall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez comes to the cage accompanied by Another One Bites The Dust. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jason Randall was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Pascual Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Randall!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yuuki Gou and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Perez clinches.
Randall misses with a shot to the kidneys.
With the fighters up against the cage, Perez throws an elbow but misses.
Randall is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Perez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Perez has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Randall is trying to keep an underhook but Perez manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Randall is trying to maintain the position but Perez is very close to passing his half guard.

Perez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Randall sees it coming and defends easily.

Perez is working for a kimura but Randall is defending it quite comfortably.

Randall is defending against the submission attempts here by Perez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've been hearing good reports from Perez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Randall looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Randall fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Perez darts in and clinches Randall up against the cage.

Randall told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Perez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Randall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Perez.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Perez throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Perez holds on and takes a little breather.

Perez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Randall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Randall trying to control the position from guard on top but Perez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Randall has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Perez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Randall is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Perez pulls down on the head and he's put Randall to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Pascual Perez!
Pascual Perez decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
