The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Merwe darts in looking for a takedown but Harris gets double underhooks and turns Van Der Merwe into the cage.
Harris fails with an attempt to clinch.
Van Der Merwe steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Harris.
Van Der Merwe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harris's waist but Harris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Van Der Merwe off to one side.
Harris seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Van Der Merwe comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

It looks like Demetrius Harris has been cut.

Van Der Merwe shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Van Der Merwe slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Van Der Merwe lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.
