Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chip Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ryan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Lose Yourself. Mark Rodriguez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chip Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Rodriguez!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rodriguez lands a two punch combo.
Ryan swinging wildly here.
A punch combination from Rodriguez misses.
Ryan tries to close the distance and clinch but Rodriguez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ryan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Rodriguez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ryan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rodriguez shapes to counter with a head kick.
Rodriguez circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ryan has Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.
Rodriguez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Rodriguez tries to circle away but Ryan has him pinned against the cage.
Ryan stalling the fight.
Ryan misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Rodriguez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ryan has him pressed against the cage.

Rodriguez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rodriguez throws a right and a left that both miss.

Rodriguez lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mark Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez cracks Ryan with a good jab.
Ryan tries to move into range but Rodriguez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
No luck for Ryan with that takedown attempt.
Rodriguez lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses.
A punch lands to the side of Ryan 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A left and a right from Rodriguez both land. Nice combination.
Ryan walks into a left hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rodriguez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chip Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rodriguez's waist but Rodriguez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryan off to one side.
A nice combination there by Rodriguez.
Rodriguez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Rodriguez throws a series of punches but Ryan avoids them all with ease.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Ryan counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ryan distracts Rodriguez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ryan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Ryan drops back looking for a leg! Rodriguez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rodriguez manages to kick Ryan off! Ryan jumps back into Rodriguez's guard.
Ryan prevents Rodriguez from getting back to his feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rodriguez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rodriguez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ryan dives into side control.
Ryan is chipping away with strikes.
Rodriguez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Ryan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ryan in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Ryan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rodriguez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ryan stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ryan feints and as Rodriguez raises his hands in defense, Ryan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ryan won't allow Rodriguez to get back to his feet.
Ryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ryan stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Ryan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ryan tries for a kimura but Rodriguez is defending well.
Rodriguez is trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Ryan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rodriguez is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ryan is controlling him well.
Ryan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ryan scores with punches from side control.

Ryan stands up.
Rodriguez closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rodriguez lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
No joy there for Rodriguez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mark Rodriguez will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rodriguez lunges at Ryan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Ryan's hand.

Ryan moves into range and clinches up with Rodriguez.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Ryan.
Rodriguez is trying to break free.

Rodriguez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ryan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rodriguez to the mat. Rodriguez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Ryan drops back looking for a leg! Rodriguez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rodriguez manages to kick Ryan off! Ryan jumps back into Rodriguez's guard.
Rodriguez wants to stand up but Ryan is controlling him.
Ryan connects with a couple of short punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rodriguez has momentary wrist control but Ryan slips an elbow through the middle.
Ryan lands a couple of digs.

Ryan drops back looking for a leg! Rodriguez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rodriguez manages to kick Ryan off! Ryan jumps back into Rodriguez's guard.
Ryan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodriguez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rodriguez is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ryan presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Ryan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rodriguez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rodriguez tries to break free but Ryan pushes him back against the cage.
Ryan slowing the pace effectively.
A frustrated look appears on Rodriguez's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Rodriguez is looking to break free of the clinch but Ryan has double underhooks.
Rodriguez has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Ryan seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Rodriguez can turn it around.

Rodriguez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ryan shoots for a takedown but Rodriguez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Rodriguez is breathing heavily.
Rodriguez looks to score with a jab to the body but Ryan is just out of range.
Ryan fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ryan has closed the distance and engaged Rodriguez in a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ryan tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rodriguez smiles and moves away.

Rodriguez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rodriguez.
Ryan dives in and grabs Rodriguez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rodriguez pushes down on Ryan's head and hops out.
Rodriguez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Ryan counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rodriguez!

Ryan has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rodriguez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ryan yanks on the arm and Rodriguez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ryan.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chip Ryan!
Chip Ryan decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
