PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elof Jurgs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Duterte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jurgs's entrance music is Swords of thy Elf. A fine choice. Duterte has chosen im just a kid as his entrance music. Lance Duterte will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Duterte throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Duterte tries a head kick but it misses.

Duterte has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jurgs.

Jurgs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Duterte bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Jurgs pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Duterte lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jurgs at a distance.
Jurgs will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Duterte throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jurgs sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Duterte drives through and clinches with Jurgs against the cage.
Duterte is pressed up against the cage. Jurgs has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Duterte down to the mat. Duterte avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duterte is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Jurgs asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Duterte pushes Jurgs away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jurgs gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

That was a close round but I would say that Elof Jurgs will probably get the nod.

Jurgs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Duterte with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jurgs connects with a nice short shot to Duterte's temple.

Duterte thuds his right hand into Jurgs's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Elof Jurgs is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jurgs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Duterte can do to turn this around?

Duterte lands a left and a right that send Jurgs crashing to the mat, dazed. Duterte thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Jurgs is rocked!
Duterte ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Oh Jurgs is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jurgs is aggressively charging in as Duterte backs up avoiding any damage. Duterte tosses out a jab and Jurgs runs right into it face first! Jurgs is out cold! Duterte dropped down on all fours and is barking in Jurgs's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

After the fight, Lance Duterte was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
