Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sebastian Shot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sebastian Shot!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos misses with a takedown attempt - Shot sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A countering left hand to the body from Shot misses.
No joy there for Shot, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Santos staying out of range there.
Santos drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shot sprawls and moves away.
A combination from Shot does no damage.
Shot throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santos sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Santos moves out of range as Shot strikes.
Shot scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

and Shot counters with a lovely shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shot tries to clinch but Santos is having none of it.

Shot scores with a nice hook to the head.

Shot throwing strikes from guard but Santos blocks nicely.

Shot wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.
Shot looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Shot is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shot with a flurry of punches that miss.
Santos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shot must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Shot keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Santos's head.
Shot tries to free his leg and advance position but Santos is retaining full guard.
Santos pulls Shot in close to prevent any damage.
Shot lands a couple of digs.
Santos wants to sweep here but Shot controlling him for the moment.

Shot stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shot not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Shot gets tackled into the cage by Santos. Santos maintains the clinch.
Shot is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Santos is keeping busy.

Santos jumps guard but Shot turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Santos wants to take a breather but Shot is having none of it.
Shot is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Santos wants to control but Shot is keeping him busy.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Shot waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Santos.
Santos attempts a counter takedown but Shot avoids it well and moves away.
Santos fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Santos walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Santos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Santos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Shot is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Santos gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shot is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Santos is defending well for now.
Santos goes for a takedown attempt but Shot pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Santos tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shot sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santos somewhat.

Sebastian Shot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Shot.
Santos attempts a counter takedown but Shot avoids it well and moves away.
Shot fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Santos on the side of the head.
Santos tries for a takedown but Shot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sebastian Shot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Santos gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Santos is trying to drag Shot to the mat but Shot just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Santos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shot walks away with a smile on his face. Santos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Shot wants to clinch up but Santos keeps it at a distance.
Santos takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Shot fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Santos, pushing him back against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Shot.
Shot throws a punch but it's blocked by Santos.
Shot struggles to land a body shot inside as Santos controls his hands.
Shot lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shot wants to stall.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Shot just misses with a elbow thrown towards Santos's brow.
Santos is working for takedown but Shot is calmly controlling the position for now.
Santos fails to pull guard.
Shot dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Shot lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Santos backwards.

Santos turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Santos manages to end up in side control.

Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shot keeps working.
Shot tries to bench press Santos off him but Santos keeps the position.
Shot wants to control but Santos postures up.

Shot bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Shot scores with a nice strike.
Santos gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Shot.
Nice sprawl there from Shot as Santos shoots in.
A low kick from Santos is predictable there
and Shot cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Shot has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Santos moves in looking to clinch but Shot pushes him off.
Shot lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Santos looks for a takedown but Shot sprawls well.

Santos closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shot tries to bench press Santos off him but Santos keeps the position.
Shot sneaks back into half guard.
Santos thows a huge punch but Shot dodges it nicely.
Shot moves into full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shot is on top in guard.

Sebastian Shot showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Santos keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shot.
Shot lands a jab to Santos's midsection.
Santos shoots for a double leg takedown but Shot sprawls well. He's pushed Santos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Santos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shot.
Santos half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Shot scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Santos doesn't seem bothered though.
Some bone on bone action there as Santos checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shot connects with the punch.
Shot throws a hook but Santos blocks it.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Shot looking to throw knees to the head but Santos is blocking nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Santos shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Shot trying to hold on to Santos's head to control him but Santos postures up.
Shot moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shot is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shot is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shot wants to improve his position but instead Santos has moved into half guard.

Sebastian Shot is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Santos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Sebastian Shot comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shot has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
