Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Weldon Carrillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Malcom Syndal!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carrillo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Syndal clinches.
Syndal slowing the pace effectively.
Carrillo tries to pull guard but Syndal won't allow it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Syndal takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Syndal is trying to force a seperation but Carrillo has the dominant position.
Carrillo fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Syndal's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Syndal closes the distance and pushes Carrillo back into the cage.

Carrillo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Syndal regains guard immediately.
Carrillo is looking to stand up but Syndal won't let him.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Syndal lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Carrillo is trying to trip Syndal. He has hold of a leg but Syndal is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Carrillo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Syndal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carrillo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Syndal is striking but Carrillo is not phased and passes to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carrillo jumps guard but Syndal stands there with Carrillo around his waist. Carrillo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Malcom Syndal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Syndal leaves Carrillo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Syndal looks to land a combination. Carrillo sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

and Carrillo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Syndal's guard.

Carrillo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Syndal fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Carrillo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Carrillo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Syndal sprawls well. Syndal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carrillo gets slowly back to his feet.
No joy there for Syndal, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
