Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shin Ichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Champ Kind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shin Ichi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shin Ichi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Champ Kind!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kind tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Kind closes the distance and clinches.
Kind displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ichi up against the cage.
Kind misses with a punch on the inside.
Kind tries to pull guard but Ichi holds him up against the cage and eventually Kind drops back down to his feet.
Kind gets underhooks to prevent Ichi's takedown attempt.
Kind looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ichi turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Ichi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kind has escaped the position, nice work there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kind can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ichi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kind will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Ichi trying to control the action but Kind is working from the bottom.

Ichi looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Ichi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Kind manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ichi's best efforts.
Ichi performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Kind preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kind tries to roll over but Ichi keeps him under control.

Ichi is trying to control. Kind wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Kind is looking to escape.
Ichi works his way into full mount!
Ichi trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kind wants to hold on but Ichi pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ichi working for a guillotine from mount but Kind is in no mood to give up.
Ichi pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Kind is squirming around, avoiding Ichi's attempts to control the action.

Ichi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kind can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kind tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shin Ichi dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Ichi has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ichi is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Kind swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kind gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ichi.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Kind breaks from the clinch.

Kind closes the distance and pushes Ichi back into the cage.
Kind wants to get back to striking at distance but Ichi won't allow it.

Ichi has Kind pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ichi pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kind tumbling to the mat - Ichi dives into Kind's guard.
Shin Ichi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kind pulls Ichi in close to prevent any damage.
Ichi wants to control from the top but Kind keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kind looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Ichi postures up.
Kind keeping moving, preventing Ichi from controlling successfully.

Ichi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kind is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kind has escaped and now he's on top!

Ichi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kind can do to turn this around?

Ichi has his foot on Kind's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kind works his way back into a safe position though.

Kind passes Ichi's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kind wants to pass to mount but Ichi is defending the position.
Kind lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kind tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ichi knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ichi trying to control but Kind postures up.
Kind not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kind looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Ichi is looking for a sweep. Kind is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ichi is pressing down on Kind's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ichi looking to control.

Ichi has his feet on Kind's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ichi clinches up with Kind and pushes him back against the cage.
Kind is trying to break the clinch but Ichi is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shin Ichi will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Kind closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ichi did well to prevent Kind getting side control.

Ichi has one foot on Kind's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Kind effectively controlling the action here.
Kind is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ichi to keep the fight standing.
Ichi wants to take the fight to the mat but Kind manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kind gets underhooks to prevent Ichi's takedown attempt.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ichi takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Kind tries to pull guard but Ichi won't allow it.

Kind wants to take the fight to the mat but Ichi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Shin Ichi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Champ Kind.

Ichi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ichi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kind quickly recovers to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ichi in particular looking to stall.
Kind really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ichi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ichi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kind keeps working.

Ichi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kind doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ichi.

Ichi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kind does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ichi is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Ichi is keen to just control but Kind is a slippery customer.
Kind scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ichi manages to mount him!
Kind tries to hold on but Ichi pushes him away.
Kind is trying to reverse the position but instead Ichi has taken his back - oops!

Ichi is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kind defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Kind trying to get back to his feet but Ichi is in full control for now.

Ichi is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shin Ichi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ichi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
