PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toshi Matoshin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao De Santo Cristo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matoshin comes into the arena with Mortal Kombat theme blaring out of the sound system. De Santo Cristo has chosen Que país é esse? as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Santo Cristo lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

It looks like Toshi Matoshin has been cut.
Matoshin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
De Santo Cristo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Matoshin. Matoshin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Matoshin misses the shot to the body.
De Santo Cristo is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Matoshin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Matoshin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matoshin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Matoshin controls De Santo Cristo momentarily but De Santo Cristo frees himself.
Matoshin is pulling down on De Santo Cristo's head. It's preventing any offense from De Santo Cristo, at least for the moment.
Matoshin wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as De Santo Cristo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
De Santo Cristo is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Toshi Matoshin will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Toshi Matoshin.
I think Matoshin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
