Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, My Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and St Pierre counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
St Pierre is thwarting Guy's attempts to control the position.
Guy gets back to full guard.
St Pierre tries to free his leg and advance position but Guy is retaining full guard.
St Pierre looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
St Pierre postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

St Pierre wants to work for an arm triangle but Guy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Guy has hold of St Pierre's hands but St Pierre slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
St Pierre seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Guy is trying to get back to full guard.
St Pierre is taking a breather. Guy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Guy wants to improve his position but St Pierre is controlling well.

St Pierre working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

St Pierre misses with a head shot. Guy uses the momentum to regain guard.

Guy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. St Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Guy controls St Pierre momentarily but St Pierre frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George St Pierre dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

so Guy counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Guy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
St Pierre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
St Pierre throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
St Pierre tries to land a sweep but no joy.
George St Pierre has got the better of the ground game so far.
St Pierre is trying to control the position but Guy postures up.

St Pierre is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Guy is aware though and is defending well.

St Pierre is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Guy defends well.
St Pierre controls Guy momentarily but Guy frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Guy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

St Pierre is looking for a triangle but Guy pushes his legs off easily.
St Pierre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

St Pierre is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Guy is aware though and is defending well.

St Pierre takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

St Pierre takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
St Pierre tries to buck Guy off but Guy is having none of it.

Guy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by St Pierre, who protects the arm well.
Guy wants to lay and pray for a moment but St Pierre keeps working.
Guy lands an elbow.
St Pierre tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Guy scores with a couple of short elbows.

St Pierre can't do much from the bottom here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
St Pierre is trying to strike from the bottom but Guy has passed into full mount.
Guy looking to control but St Pierre is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
St Pierre is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Guy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Guy breaks from St Pierre's wrist control and lands an elbow.
St Pierre tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Guy tries to control but St Pierre wriggling away.
St Pierre sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Guy seems to be working for a kimura but St Pierre defends the submission attempt.
St Pierre wants to control but Guy is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
St Pierre is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Guy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Guy's back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Guy is really stuck here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

My Guy dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



St Pierre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

St Pierre cracks Guy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Guy is looking to improve his position but St Pierre isn't that keen on the idea.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
St Pierre looking to finish Guy with some ground and pound. This is bad for Guy!

Oh Guy is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

St Pierre lands a big elbow - Guy is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Guy is forced to tap out!

George St Pierre spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
