Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rodger Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rodger Simpson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Barry Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Simpson counters with a three punch combo that has Sanders backing up. Sanders nods at Simpson to acknowledge the strikes.
Simpson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sanders darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Simpson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sanders pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sanders throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Simpson's waist but Simpson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanders off to one side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Simpson for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rodger Simpson will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Horrible takedown attempt by Sanders or perhaps it was just good defense by Simpson, which made it look bad.

Sanders is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Simpson.
