Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Welcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jesse Welcher!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Welcher manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Welcher.
Welcher rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.
Welcher lands a takedown into guard.
Silva controlling Welcher's posture.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Welcher really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva is working hard here to advance position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.
We've been hearing that Silva has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Silva moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Welcher stops Silva from passing to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Silva tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Welcher has his hands clasped together but Silva breaks the hold and Welcher is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Silva!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alex Silva!
