Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by The Clash - This Is England. Andy Smith has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ben Johnson's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ben Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andy Smith!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a low kick as Johnson jumps back.
Johnson throws a head kick that misses.
Smith is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Johnson is looking for a counter combo.
A swing and a miss from Johnson.
Johnson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Smith wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.

Smith uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Johnson.

Johnson moves into range and clinches up with Smith.

Johnson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smith regains guard immediately.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Johnson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Johnson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Smith can't fight it off and eventually Johnson manages to take the fight to the floor. Smith looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Johnson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Smith for as long as he can get away with.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Johnson is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Smith's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Johnson to keep the fight standing.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Johnson wants the takedown. Smith is fighting it off but Johnson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Smith's guard against the cage.

Johnson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Johnson.
Smith controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Johnson continues to hold on tight.
Smith looking to control.
Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith moves out of range as Johnson strikes.
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Andy Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Smith ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Well Johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
