PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Joe DeMarco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Gagnon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Joe DeMarco has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joe DeMarco seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeMarco closes the distance but Gagnon moves to the side
and Gagnon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Gagnon counters with a beautiful hook that drops DeMarco to the mat! Will DeMarco be able to recover his senses? The referee starts the count at 3 having sent Gagnon to a neutral corner. 4,5,6 and DeMarco is up. He looks OK to continue.

Joe DeMarco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gagnon counters with a really nice, stiff jab that drops DeMarco onto his ass. He'll have to take the mandatory count from the referee but he's back on his feet and he seems OK to continue.

Gagnon's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

DeMarco tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gagnon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

A nice side step and Gagnon releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Gagnon has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as DeMarco is landing a low percentage of strikes.
DeMarco throws a head kick that misses.
Gagnon is clearly trying to counter these attacks from DeMarco with a body shot.
DeMarco connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

A little jabbing left from Gagnon on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Gagnon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
DeMarco looks to land a combination. Gagnon sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gagnon ducks under a wild hook from DeMarco.
DeMarco tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Gagnon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gagnon flicks out a counter leg kick but DeMarco steps away.
DeMarco misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
DeMarco moves in looking to clinch but Gagnon pushes him off.
Gagnon keeps the fight on the outside.
Gagnon lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
DeMarco looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

DeMarco has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from DeMarco there as he acknowledges the shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jean Gagnon will get the nod in that round, having scored multiple knockdowns.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

DeMarco connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Gagnon onto his butt! Gagnon bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.
Gagnon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but DeMarco manages to avoid it.
DeMarco throws a nice looking combination but Gagnon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

DeMarco cracks Gagnon with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Gagnon is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Gagnon is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Gagnon could not beat the count!
