PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirtbag Dan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angle has chosen The Doors - Roadhouse Blues as his entrance music. The key to victory for Dirtbag Dan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dirtbag Dan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kurt Angle!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Angle closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dan quickly recovers to half guard.
Angle controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Angle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Dan tries to get to full guard but Angle has control of the leg.

Angle is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dan!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Angle tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Angle has control of Dan's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dan regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Angle swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dan is now in Angle's guard. A big mistake from Angle there, giving up the dominant position!

Angle throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dan uses it to pass to side control.
Angle tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Dan presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Dan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Angle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Dan is looking to control Angle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dan avoid being mounted?

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kurt Angle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Angle on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Dan. Dan obviously looking to wear him down.

Angle closes the distance and clinches up with Dan, looking for a takedown. Angle pushes Dan against the cage but Dan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Angle is taking a breather. Dan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Angle takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Angle works his foot free and advances to mount.
Dan is working to get back to half guard.

Angle is not going to allow Dan to sit and survive in this position.

Angle working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Dan is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Angle has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Dan taps out!
