Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Dempsey is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Cyrus Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Henry Dempsey!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Dempsey gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Dempsey working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Potter's thigh. Potter counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Dempsey stays in close to Potter's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Potter is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Potter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dempsey on the ground.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dempsey's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Dempsey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Potter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dempsey tries to avoid it but Potter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dempsey to the ground. Dempsey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Potter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Potter has managed to clinch.
Potter tries to pull guard but Dempsey holds him up against the cage and eventually Potter drops back down to his feet.
Potter is struggling to control the position.
Potter tries to work over Dempsey's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Potter tries to land knees in the clinch but Dempsey avoids the damage to the body.

Dempsey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Potter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

enabling Potter to counter with a crisp jab.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Dempsey pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Potter manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Potter successfully pulls guard.
We've been informed that Dempsey has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dempsey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Potter has an active guard here but Dempsey has managed to pass into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Potter wants to control but Dempsey is keeping busy.

Dempsey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Potter is squirming around, avoiding Dempsey's attempts to control the action.
Dempsey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Potter haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Potter wants to hold on but Dempsey pushes him away.

Dempsey is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Potter to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Potter shrugs it off.

Henry Dempsey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Potter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dempsey gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Potter connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Potter drives through with a takedown into guard.
Potter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dempsey is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dempsey takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Dempsey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Potter's guard.

Dempsey stands and throws Potter's legs to the side, diving into side control.
You can see the frustration on Potter's face as Dempsey controls the position.
Dempsey passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Potter!

Dempsey goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Potter is on top in guard.

Dempsey wants to sweep but no luck.
Potter throws a strike but Dempsey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Potter has his foot on Dempsey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dempsey works his way back into a safe position though.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Dempsey. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
