The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKenzie throws a leg kick that is checked

and Gano counters with a takedown into side control.

MacKenzie throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

MacKenzie pushes Gano up against the cage in a clinch.
MacKenzie throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ganos head.

MacKenzie pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gano scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
MacKenzie wants to get back to his feet.

Gano looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
MacKenzie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gano is working away from the top position though.
MacKenzie is holding on to half guard well.
MacKenzie wants to control but Gano is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Gano is rocked!

It looks like Alyssa Gano has been cut.
MacKenzie throws a lazy body kick

and Gano counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Gano is still in real trouble! Can MacKenzie finish him?

Gano got a little sloppy there for a moment and MacKenzie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gano has managed to get both his arms back between MacKenzie's legs - danger averted.
Gano seems to have recovered his senses.
Gano passes MacKenzie's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Gano is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MacKenzie wants to get back to his feet.
Gano seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but MacKenzie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
MacKenzie looks like he's trying to stand up.
MacKenzie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gano's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gano's back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

MacKenzie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gano has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
MacKenzie has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Gano's body.

MacKenzie has got one arm under Gano's chin. This could be trouble... Gano trying to control the other hand but MacKenzie gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Gano has tapped out! The fight is over!
