PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Chartier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lebron Kenda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chartier comes to the cage accompanied by Disturbed - Stricken. Chartier has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Lebron Kenda has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donald Chartier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lebron Kenda!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kenda throws a shot from downtown. Chartier moves away and avoids it.
Kenda fails with the takedown.
A little feinted left hand from Chartier on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kenda throws a head kick but Chartier moves out of range.
Chartier looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Kenda shoots in looking for a takedown but Chartier manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kenda's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Chartier lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Kenda misses with a body kick.
Chartier looks to land a right hand but Kenda moved out of range.
And Kenda tries to counter it with a takedown but Chartier pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Chartier is breathing heavily.
Chartier waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kenda.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chartier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chartier was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kenda tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chartier defends well and Kenda ends up having to push Chartier into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Kenda closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chartier did well to prevent Kenda getting side control.

and Chartier counters with a lovely shot to the body.

It looked like Chartier wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Kenda shoots for a double leg takedown but Chartier sprawls well. He's pushed Kenda's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Chartier counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Kenda shoots in for a takedown but Chartier shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Chartier is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kenda can do to turn this around?

Chartier has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Chartier goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kenda unleashes a big counter combination but Chartier bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Chartier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chartier attempts a counter takedown but Kenda avoids it well and moves away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kenda looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kenda drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Chartier defends it well.
Kenda looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Chartier is fending him off so far but Kenda persists. Nope, Chartier circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Kenda has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Chartier clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Chartier is in a bad position with Kenda working for a choke. Chartier manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kenda has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kenda is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Chartier dives into side control.
Kenda tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Chartier wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kenda can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kenda bucks up and tries to throw Chartier off but instead Chartier has got his back!
Kenda manages to reverse the position and now he's in Chartier's guard. Nice work there by Kenda.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenda advances to half guard.
Kenda wants to take a breather but Chartier is having none of it.
Kenda thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chartier's head.
Kenda is pressing down on Chartier's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chartier is holding on for now.

Kenda decides to stand and escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chartier avoids the head kick by Kenda.
Donald Chartier is winning the standup battle so far.
Kenda has a takedown stuffed.
Kenda is looking to clinch but Chartier is avoiding it.
Donald Chartier is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Chartier throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kenda sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Chartier throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kenda tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chartier sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kenda somewhat.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Donald Chartier.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chartier, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
