The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Meechum closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Meechum can't find room to land a body shot as Gross controls the action.
Gross manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Gross is trying to force a seperation but Meechum has the dominant position.

Meechum breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gross connects with a good right hand that stumbles Meechum. Meechum circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Meechum rushes Gross and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gross has Meechum pressed against the cage.
Gross tries to break free but Meechum pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meechum pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gross on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Danny Meechum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Meechum fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gross, pushing him back against the cage.

Meechum breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gross is trying hard to land a takedown here. Meechum sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Gross fails with a takedown attempt.
Meechum is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gross with a body shot.

It looks like Elwood Gross has been cut.

Meechum sneaks out the side door and pushes Gross away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gross is looking to control Meechum's arms but Meechum gets an underhook and turns him. Now Gross has his back to the cage.
Meechum cracks Gross with a nice body shot.

Gross breaks from the clinch.

The referee calls for Gross to work.
Meechum doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gross misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Meechum.

Meechum breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Meechum throws a head kick but Gross moves out of range.
Gross misses with a body kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Meechum!

Meechum drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gross has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Meechum off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Meechum closes the distance and pushes Gross back into the cage.

Gross jumps into guard, dragging Meechum to the mat.

Meechum gets to his feet. Gross looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gross is breathing heavily.
Meechum circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Gross drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Meechum follows Gross to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
