Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Merrill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Eduardo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hugo Merrill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Eduardo!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merrill drives through with a takedown into Eduardo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Eduardo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Eduardo wants it to stay on the feet.

Eduardo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Merrill to the mat! Merrill manages to get full guard.

Eduardo is staying active underneath Merrill, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Merrill cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Eduardo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Merrill sprawls well initially but Eduardo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Eduardo is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Merrill!
Merrill tries to reverse the position but Eduardo maintains control.

Eduardo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Merrill turns into him and now he's in Eduardo's guard.

Eduardo throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Merrill escapes and throws Eduardo's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Merrill decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Eduardo shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Merrill throws a head kick but Eduardo moves out of range.
Merrill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Eduardo is trying to stick to Merrill's back but Merrill is turning into Eduardo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Eduardo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Merrill.

Merrill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Merrill keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Eduardo's head.

Eduardo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Merrill is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Eduardo.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Merrill, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
