PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steers Mcflame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aiden Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steers Mcflame!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aiden Taylor!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor stuffs the takedown attempt from Mcflame. Mcflame gets slowly back to his feet.
Mcflame shoots in for a takedown but Taylor shows good takedown defense.
Mcflame closes the distance and clinches up with Taylor, looking for a takedown. Mcflame pushes Taylor against the cage but Taylor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steers Mcflame. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcflame dives in for a single leg takedown but Taylor sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mcflame or perhaps it was just good defense by Taylor, which made it look bad.
Mcflame's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mcflame duly obliges.
Taylor swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Mcflame swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor shoots for a double leg takedown but Mcflame sprawls well. He's pushed Taylor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mcflame throws the left hand but Taylor avoids the punch easily.
Taylor is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Mcflame feints and as Taylor raises his hands in defense, Mcflame changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mcflame is controlling him.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taylor is on top in guard.


Mcflame is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Taylor is aware though and is defending well.

Mcflame has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Taylor is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Mcflame successfully pulls guard.
Taylor postures up and lands a big shot to Mcflame's brow.
Taylor scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Mcflame seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Taylor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Taylor engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Taylor is in close to Mcflame's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Taylor content to stall in guard here.
Mcflame wants to stand but Taylor is controlling the position.
Taylor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Taylor works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mcflame tries to kick Taylor off but Taylor keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Taylor slows the pace down in half guard.

Mcflame looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Taylor wants to take a breather but Mcflame is having none of it.
Mcflame tries to get to full guard but Taylor has control of the leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A head kick misses from Mcflame.
Taylor scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Steers Mcflame has been cut.
Mcflame blocks a head kick by Taylor.
Taylor throws a one two combo.
Taylor shoots in looking for a takedown but Mcflame manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Taylor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Taylor shoots in for a double leg but Mcflame sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
It looked like Mcflame was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Taylor looks winded!
Mcflame misses with a head kick.
Mcflame stuffs the takedown attempt from Taylor. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet.

Mcflame shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Taylor's guard.

Taylor is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Aiden Taylor will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Steers Mcflame's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Taylor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mcflame.
And Taylor tries to counter it with a takedown but Mcflame pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mcflame as he avoids it easily.
A head kick misses from Taylor.
Taylor dives in and grabs Mcflame's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcflame pushes down on Taylor's head and hops out.
An attempted straight right counter from Mcflame misses the target.

Mcflame moves into range and clinches up with Taylor.
Taylor is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mcflame is defending well.
Steers Mcflame has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aiden Taylor.
Mcflame fails to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Taylor takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Taylor is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Aiden Taylor seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Taylor counters with a left and a right that stings Mcflame.
Mcflame avoids the head kick by Taylor.

Mcflame looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Taylor tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mcflame sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Taylor somewhat.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcflame but Mcflame pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Taylor! But no joy.
Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Taylor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Taylor on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mcflame. Mcflame obviously looking to wear him down.
Taylor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mcflame is fending him off so far but Taylor persists. Nope, Mcflame circles away and we're back to standing.

Aiden Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Mcflame ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Taylor moves away.
Taylor is looking to clinch but Mcflame is avoiding it.
Some bone on bone action there as Taylor checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Mcflame shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Taylor as he jumps to the side.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mcflame tries to clinch up.
Mcflame tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Taylor paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Taylor steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Mcflame closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Taylor quickly recovers to half guard.
Mcflame thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Taylor's head.
Taylor is looking to get back to full guard here but Mcflame has managed to pass to side control instead.
Mcflame wants to lay and pray for a moment but Taylor keeps working.

Mcflame moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Taylor is trying to improve his position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mcflame is trying to get an arm triangle but Taylor is defending well.
Taylor is looking for a sweep.
Taylor takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nice sprawl there from Taylor as Mcflame shoots in.

and Taylor counters with a one-two to the body.

As Taylor tries to get set, Mcflame tries to push him back and clinch up but Taylor manages to avoid the attempt.

and Taylor counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Steers Mcflame has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Aiden Taylor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Taylor goes for a double leg but Mcflame avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mcflame continues to drive forward.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Steers Mcflame.
I think Taylor has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
