And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nicolas Muller!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Muller rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marailov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
We've been told by Marailov's head coaches at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Marailov connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Nicolas Muller has been cut.
Marailov misses the body punch
and Muller counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Marailov falls off balance throwing a combination

and Muller moves into the clinch.
Marailov takes a knee to the side of the body.

Marailov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Muller takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Marailov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Muller cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Muller throws a leg kick which misses Marailov's front leg but catches the back leg as Marailov tries to avoid it.
Muller misses with a body kick.
Muller smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marailov tries to clinch but Muller moves away
and Muller counters with a nice uppercut.
Muller connects with a looping right hand.
Muller avoids a punch combination nicely.

Muller drives through and clinches with Marailov against the ropes.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Marailov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Marailov throws a body shot but no joy.

Muller rushes Marailov and presses him up against the ropes.
Muller doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Muller throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Marailov blocks it with crossed arms.
Muller is trying to stall.
Marailov scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A knee to the head by Muller.
Muller lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Marailov prevents a body shot from Muller.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Muller.


It looks like Gustav Marailov has been cut.
Muller has Marailov pressed against the ropes, preventing Marailov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Muller is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Muller landing knees to the head.
Muller misses with a short punch on the inside.
Muller slowing the pace effectively.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marailov throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mullers head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marailov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Muller blocks an uppercut.

Marailov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Muller misses with a wild body shot.
Marailov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A telegraphed right hand from Marailov misses the target.
Marailov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Muller.
Marailov thuds a left hand into Muller's body.
Marailov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gustav Marailov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Muller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Marailov.
Marailov connects with a nice looking jab.
Marailov swats away the attempt to clinch by Muller.
Marailov throws a right hand that Muller ducks under and follows up with a left that Muller also avoids with ease.
Muller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Marailov moves away.

Muller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marailov swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marailov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Muller.
A combination from Muller does no damage.
Muller defending well as Marailov loads up on a big left hand.
Marailov scores with a shot to the body.
A solid leg kick lands there for Muller.
Marailov cracks Muller with a good jab.
Muller darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Marailov lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Muller falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Gustav Marailov is the new super heavyweight champion!
Gustav Marailov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
