McCarthy comes to the cage accompanied by Chamillionaire - Ridin' ft. Krayzie Bone. Lotus has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lotus throws a shot to the body.

McCarthy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

McCarthy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McCarthy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
You can see the frustration on Lotus's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lotus looks to move to half guard but instead McCarthy has passed into mount! Damn!

McCarthy is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
McCarthy takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Lotus misses with a body shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lotus.
Lotus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McCarthy is fending him off so far but Lotus persists. Nope, McCarthy circles away and we're back to standing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McCarthy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lotus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCarthy is working away from the top position though.
