The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barca lands a right hook to the body.

Barca gets caught flat footed, as Gustafson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gustafson trying to control but Barca is working from the bottom.
Gustafson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Barca is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Gustafson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Barca knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barca is not content to let Gustafson control the position.

Gustafson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Gustafson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barca is just riding it out for now. Gustafson eventually gives up the hold.

Barca tries to get to full guard but Gustafson has control of the leg.

Gustafson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Barca defends it well.
Barca felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Gustafson moves nicely into side control.

Gustafson is working to tighten his grip on Barca's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Barca has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Gustafson is really squeezing tight and eventually Barca passes out! Gustafson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
