Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rolland Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Kiohos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rolland Barr has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rolland Barr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexander Kiohos!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kiohos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Barr was covering up waiting for the punch and Kiohos finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kiohos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kiohos being controlled here momentarily.
Kiohos tries to free his leg and advance position but Barr is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Barr holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barr looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kiohos trying to control the position from guard on top but Barr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kiohos wants to pass the guard but Barr is keeping the position.
Barr has a closed guard, preventing Kiohos from standing up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kiohos decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Barr actively working from the bottom here.
Kiohos not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kiohos is looking to take a break and control but Barr is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kiohos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kiohos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barr does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Barr keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kiohos stalling away here and it's allowed Barr to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Kiohos connects with a couple of short punches.
Kiohos postures up in Barr's guard and throws a big left but Barr blocks it.
Kiohos trying to control the position from guard on top but Barr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Barr instigates a clinch.

Kiohos breaks the clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kiohos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kiohos has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Kiohos pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Poor strikes thrown by Kiohos there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Kiohos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Barr is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Barr and Kiohos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Barr might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barr gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alexander Kiohos dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Barr closes the distance and pushes Kiohos back into the cage.
Barr is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kiohos is defending well.
Barr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kiohos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Barr is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kiohos is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Barr to the mat. Barr regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Kiohos looking to sit in guard and control but Barr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Kiohos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Barr defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barr working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Kiohos can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barr controls the pace.
Kiohos looking for a sweep. Not yet Kiohos, not yet.
Kiohos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barr with a nice head shot there.
Barr seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kiohos is striking off his back. Barr thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Kiohos wants to improve his position but Barr is controlling well.
Alexander Kiohos has got the better of the ground game so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barr connects with a nice short shot to Kiohos's temple.
Barr really is a fat lump.
Kiohos is trying to control but can't.
Kiohos wants to improve his position but Barr is controlling well.
Barr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Barr content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Barr slips a nice elbow through Kiohos's hands, connecting with Kiohos's forehead.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barr lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Barr stalling.

Kiohos drags the fight down to the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiohos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kiohos is trying to keep Barr in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kiohos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Barr is looking to chop away at Kiohos's legs.
Some wild striking there from Kiohos.
Kiohos throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Rolland Barr has been cut.

Barr rushes Kiohos and presses him up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiohos is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Barr wants to get back to striking at distance but Kiohos won't allow it.

Barr drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kiohos pulls his leg out and moves away.
Barr is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kiohos with the counter takedown but Barr avoids it easily.

Kiohos rushes Barr and presses him up against the cage.

Barr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kiohos scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kiohos throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kiohos tries to move to mount but Barr blocks the move with his legs.

Kiohos goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Barr rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kiohos's guard! Nice work there by Barr!

Barr cracks Kiohos with a solid left hand.
Barr lands a couple of elbows.
Barr controlling from the top position.
Barr stands up over Kiohos, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kiohos working for a triangle but Barr defends it easily.
Kiohos wants to sweep here but Barr controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kiohos is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Barr content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Barr cracks Kiohos with a solid left hand.
Barr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Barr lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kiohos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kiohos looking to control.
Barr stands up over Kiohos, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kiohos being controlled here, momentarily.
Barr continues to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Kiohos takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kiohos now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Barr tries to bum rush Kiohos with a series of wild strikes but Kiohos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kiohos let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Kiohos doesn't manage to clinch there - Barr circles away.

Kiohos has Barr up against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kiohos has Barr pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kiohos pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Barr tumbling to the mat - Kiohos dives into Barr's guard.
Kiohos is looking to advance position but Barr has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!


And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Alexander Kiohos.
I think Kiohos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
