Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mariano Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Barant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Mariano Hood has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Mariano Hood seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barant misses with a two punch combination.
Barant throws a head kick that misses.
It looked like Hood was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Hood looks to clinch
and Hood takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No joy there for Barant, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hood wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Barant rushes Hood and presses him up against the cage.

Hood breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hood misses with a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Barant! But no joy.
Barant throws a series of punches but Hood moves out of range.

Hood tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Barant manages to circle out of the way.

Hood closes the distance and clinches up with Barant, looking for a takedown. Hood pushes Barant against the cage but Barant circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Barant lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Barant keeps the fight on the outside.
Hood looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barant is fending him off so far but Hood persists. Nope, Barant circles away and we're back to standing.

Hood jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Barant walks away with a smile on his face. Hood gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Barant stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barant wants it to stay on the feet.

Barant fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hood, pushing him back against the cage.

Barant lands with a nice combination. Hood backs away looking to recover.
Barant throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hood fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Barant swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
A slapping leg kick lands for Barant.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barant feints a jab promting Hood to slip. Barant then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hood slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Mariano Hood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
