PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodger Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Plotz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Plotz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rodger Nash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Plotz!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plotz throws a combination that misses

and Nash counters with a shoot takedown. Plotz fights it but they end up in guard.

Nash stands up over Plotz, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Plotz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Plotz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Nash quickly recovers to half guard.
Plotz is trying to control. Nash wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Plotz is looking to advance position but Nash won't allow it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Nash is looking for a sweep. Plotz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Nash closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Plotz quickly recovers to half guard.

Plotz has one foot on Nash's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Plotz scores with a jab to the head.


It looks like Rodger Nash has been cut.

Plotz misses with an uppercut. Nash saw that one coming.
As Plotz tries to get set, Nash tries to push him back and clinch up but Plotz manages to avoid the attempt.
Plotz throws a head kick but Nash moves out of range.

Nash fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Plotz sprawls well initially but Nash persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Plotz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nash drops an elbow to the side of Plotz's head.
Nash throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Nash is looking for a kimura but Plotz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nash to get the leverage.
Nash is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Plotz wants to control but Nash is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Plotz looks winded!

Nash stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Plotz scores with a jab to the jaw.

A close round but Henry Plotz will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Nash counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Plotz pushes Nash off and gets back to his feet.

Nash gets caught napping as Plotz dives in and scores a takedown. Nash manages to retain guard.

Nash is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Plotz is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Plotz wants to stand but Nash is controlling his posture from full guard.
Nash trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Nash doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Nash has his foot on Plotz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Plotz works his way back into a safe position though.
Nash wants to sweep but no luck.

Nash throws his legs up looking for a submission but Plotz uses it to pass to side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nash wants to control but Plotz postures up.
Nash holding on.

Plotz stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Plotz looking to score a takedown here. Nash is defending well but Plotz drives through and ends up in Nash's guard.
Plotz tries to stand but Nash is controlling from the bottom.

Nash looking for a sweep. Not yet Nash, not yet.
Plotz trying to control but Nash is working from the bottom.
Plotz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Plotz looking to sit in guard and control but Nash gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Plotz is working an open guard so Nash takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Plotz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nash looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nash really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Plotz wants to control but Nash is keeping him busy.
Nash is looking to reverse the position.
Nash is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Nash tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Plotz trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Plotz sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Plotz can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nash is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Plotz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Donk. Plotz catches Nash right on the button with a cross.
Plotz fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Nash shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Plotz pinned against the cage. Plotz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Nash dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Plotz drops Nash with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Nash looks back up at him and smiles so Plotz waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Nash is rocked!
Plotz fakes the body blow, causing Nash to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Nash goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
