Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michio Kaku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Bennet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaku's entrance music is We will rock you. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michio Kaku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Bennet!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bennet leaves Kaku with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bennet only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Kaku shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bennet pinned against the cage. Bennet gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bennet moves into the clinch successfully.
A frustrated look appears on Kaku's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Bennet's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bennet works over Kaku's head and body with a nice combination.
Bennet throws a nice inside leg kick.

Kaku tries to keep at a distance but Bennet has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bennet is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Bennet gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kaku is trying to maintain the position but Bennet is very close to passing his half guard.

Kaku is trying to control but can't.
Bennet looks to land a strike but Kaku avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Kaku is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kaku is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bennet is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kaku looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bennet seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bennet scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Michio Kaku has been cut.
Kaku closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bennet circles away.

Bennet moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Bennet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kaku. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bennet is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kaku gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Bennet is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Kaku reverses the position - he's now on top in Bennet's guard.

Bennet stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kaku swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A right-left combo lands from Bennet.
Michio Kaku is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kaku goes for a double leg but Bennet avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bennet continues to drive forward.

Bennet throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kaku was covering up waiting for the punch and Bennet finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bennet stands and steps away. Kaku gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bennet can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kaku has the hooks in. Bennet is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kaku is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bennet to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bennet shrugs it off.

Bennet tries to lock up and control but Kaku gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kaku is working for a guillotine from mount but Bennet frees his head quite easily.
Bennet is in a horrible position here. Kaku smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Kaku wants to control the pace but Bennet is squirming around nicely.
Bennet sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Kaku shoots in for a double leg but Bennet sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bennet has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kaku gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Michael Bennet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bennet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
