The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes throws a right and a left that Rice avoids nicely.
Rice shoots in looking for a takedown but Mendes manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rice's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rice tries to keep at a distance but Mendes has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mendes scores with a nice hook to the head.
Rice fails to pull guard.
Mendes tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Rice's elbow.
Mendes looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendes is trying to break the clinch but Rice is controlling him.
Mendes lands a big right hand that drops Rice! The killer instinct kicks in and Mendes finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Mendes!
