PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kern Dignity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karol Mirowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dignity comes into the arena with Party & Bullshit blaring out of the sound system. Mirowski has chosen Mercy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Karol Mirowski enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kern Dignity!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karol Mirowski!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dignity takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Dignity getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Mirowski is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dignity.
Dignity fails with a takedown attempt.
Mirowski now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Mirowski takes a swing at Dignity's ribcage but misses.
Dignity tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mirowski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dignity somewhat.
Dignity cracks the inside of Mirowski's front leg.
Dignity lands with a hook. Mirowski tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dignity thuds his right hand into Mirowski's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
A good leg kick by Mirowski.
Mirowski bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dignity's head backwards.
Dignity definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Dignity avoids the body shot from Mirowski.
Mirowski looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mirowski swings for the body but Dignity moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mirowski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kern Dignity. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dignity looks to score with a jab to the body but Mirowski is just out of range.
Mirowski displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dignity throws out the jab.
Mirowski misses with a straight left.
Dignity drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Mirowski on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Dignity avoids a kick to the body.
Dignity lands a right hook to the body.

and Dignity takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Mirowski bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mirowski flicks out a counter leg kick but Dignity steps away.
Mirowski thows a body kick. Dignity tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Dignity lands a jab to the nose.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mirowski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dignity drops down looking for a counter takedown but Mirowski sprawls and moves away.
Mirowski stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dignity.
Dignity lands with an uppercut that bounces Mirowski off the cage and back into range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mirowski enables Dignity to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mirowski manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dignity stays in close to Mirowski's body and controls the position.
Dignity looking to sit in guard and control but Mirowski gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dignity trying to keep a closed guard but Mirowski is proving a slippery customer.
Mirowski has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dignity is proving hard to escape from.

Dignity is working hard here to advance position.

Dignity is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dignity looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mirowski is one step ahead there.
Dignity is trying to keep Mirowski in close.
Mirowski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mirowski wants to get up but he can't break Dignity's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Dignity checks the leg kick nicely there.
Dignity scores with a punch to the head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mirowski lands with a kick to the ribs.
Mirowski connects with an inside leg kick.
Mirowski scores with a body shot.
Mirowski takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Mirowski tries a head kick but it misses.
Dignity on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mirowski. Mirowski obviously looking to wear him down.
Mirowski throws a big shot that misses.
Dignity fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Mirowski lands with a good body shot.
Dignity misses with a takedown
and Mirowski counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Mirowski looks at the referee who does nothing so Mirowski lands a crushing right that sends Dignity to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karol Mirowski!
Karol Mirowski is the new bantamweight champion!
An out of breath Karol Mirowski thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
