The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spice closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Spice is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gentile is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Spice tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Gentile tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Spice wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gentile keeps trying to improve his position.
Gentile sneaks back into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gentile looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Gentile is trying to maintain the position but Spice is very close to passing his half guard.
Gentile has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Spice wants to work for an arm triangle but Gentile is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Gentile is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Spice is staying active.

Spice is working for an americana but Gentile has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Spice was thinking about the submission.
Gentile seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gentile lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Spice looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gentile is one step ahead there.
Spice is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Spice is looking for a kimura but Gentile is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Spice to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gentile is pressing down on Spice's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Gentile wants to stand but Spice is controlling the position.

Gentile has control of Spice's left arm, preventing Spice from doing any damage.
Spice sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gentile's guard.

Gentile walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Spice drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Gentile swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Spice's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
