PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zenone Impallomeni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these fighters had to take extra time to make weight as they missed the initial 185lb limit. Zenone Impallomeni came in at 187.1 and Dave Brown came in at 187.1 but after the extra two hours, both guys managed to get within the one pound allowance. No doubt it will have affected them physically though, so let's see if that has an impact on the fight. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Impallomeni clinches.

Impallomeni breaks from the clinch.
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brown takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Brown loads up on a big right hand but Impallomeni slips the punch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Brown has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Impallomeni blocks a low kick nicely.
Impallomeni thinks about countering with a head kick.
Impallomeni throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Brown.

It looks like Dave Brown has been cut.

Brown tries to keep at a distance but Impallomeni has taken the fight into the clinch.
Brown lands with a left to the head.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Brown just misses with a elbow thrown towards Impallomeni's brow.
Brown lands a left hand.

Impallomeni pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Brown tries to grapple but his opponent circles

Brown looks like he wants to counter punch here.

A punch lands to the side of Impallomeni 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Dave Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Brown rushes Impallomeni and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Brown throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Brown has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Impallomeni is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Brown wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Impallomeni has him pressed against the cage.

Impallomeni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Impallomeni closes the distance and clinches.
Brown tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Impallomeni breaks the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brown connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Impallomeni is rocked!
Impallomeni tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brown manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Oh Impallomeni is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Brown has taken the fight to the clinch.
Impallomeni throws a head punch that misses.

Brown jumps guard.
Impallomeni preventing the sweep.
Brown lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Brown distracts Impallomeni with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Impallomeni wants to get back to his feet but Brown is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Brown seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Brown loads up on a big left hand. Impallomeni felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Brown looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Impallomeni can't hide his disappointment, as Brown celebrates the victory.
