McCarthy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Chamillionaire - Ridin' ft. Krayzie Bone. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as David McCarthy enters the cage!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David McCarthy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy scores with a jab. Melcher acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Jon Melcher has been cut.
Melcher looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

McCarthy moves into the clinch.

McCarthy breaks from the clinch.

McCarthy closes the distance and pushes Melcher back into the cage.

McCarthy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Melcher closes this distance looking for a takedown but McCarthy circles away.

McCarthy feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Melcher sprawling to the canvas! Melcher rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can McCarthy finish him?!

Melcher is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McCarthy shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and McCarthy slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! McCarthy lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). David McCarthy!
Jon Melcher was interviewed post fight and said 'We tried. We failed. I guess it's back to the ol' drawing board!'.
