Atkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Savage has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Atkins is proving hard to escape from.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Atkins crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Savage - the referee stops the clock and Atkins gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Savage. Atkins manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
