Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Davide Longo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russ Wess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davide Longo had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Davide Longo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Russ Wess!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Longo lands a lovely overhand right.
Wess throws a lazy head kick

and Longo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Longo lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Wess backwards.
Wess is trying to break free.
Longo stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Wess stalling in the clinch but Longo improves position.
Longo blocks an elbow strike.
Longo working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Wess is fighting off a takedown attempt but Longo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wess to the mat. Wess regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Longo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Wess's head.
Longo chips away with some ground and pound.
Longo is stalling in the full guard.
Longo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Wess's head.

Longo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Longo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Longo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've been hearing that Longo has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
