PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Coulthard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rhys Coulthard!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ringo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ringo tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Coulthard counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Coulthard slips a jab and a cross from Ringo.
Ringo throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Coulthard counters with a stiff right hand.
Coulthard avoids the head kick by Ringo.
We've been informed that Coulthard has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Ringo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Coulthard throws out a counter right but Ringo avoids it with no problem.
Ringo tries for a takedown but Coulthard circles away easily
and Coulthard counters with a right hand to the body.
Coulthard misses with a looping left.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ringo makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ringo has Coulthard pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Coulthard manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ringo is working for takedown but Coulthard is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Ringo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coulthard is stalling here.
Ringo tries to work over Coulthard's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Coulthard prevents the takedown attempt.
Ringo is trying to break free.
Ringo has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Coulthard after a bit of a struggle.

Ringo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ringo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ringo has been working on his balance at Iron Fist Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Coulthard.
Coulthard scores with a jab to the head.
Ringo lands with a straight right. Coulthard didn't see that one coming.
Ringo throws a series of punches but Coulthard moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ringo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
It seemed like Coulthard was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ringo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Ringo rushes Coulthard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ringo blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Ringo just leaning against Coulthard, taking a breather.

Ringo manages to break the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ringo throws a right and a left that Coulthard avoids nicely.
Ringo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Coulthard takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ringo with a poor takedown
and Coulthard counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Coulthard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ringo trying to control the position from guard on top but Coulthard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coulthard is pulling down on Ringo's head. It's preventing any offense from Ringo, at least for the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ringo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coulthard keeping moving, preventing Ringo from controlling successfully.
Ringo showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Ringo trying to control but Coulthard is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ringo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Ringo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ringo throws a looping overhand right but Coulthard ducks down to avoid it.
Ringo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Coulthard's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Ringo dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Coulthard throws a looping overhand right but Ringo ducks down to avoid it.
Ringo moves to clinch but Coulthard breaks away
and Coulthard counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ringo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jab, jab by Coulthard - just one landing.
Ringo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ringo's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ringo duly obliges.
Coulthard uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ringo has time to react.


Ringo is rocked!
A cross from Coulthard lands.
Oh Ringo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A combination from Ringo does no damage.
Coulthard let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Ringo misses with a takedown attempt
and Coulthard counters with a huge right that knocks Ringo out cold! Coulthard is running around with a crazed look on his face - you can see how much that meant to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rhys Coulthard!
