PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Coke Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiu Jitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Coke Montana!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Jiu Jitsu!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jitsu shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jitsu shoots in looking for a takedown but Montana manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jitsu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jitsu closes this distance looking for a takedown but Montana circles away.
Coke Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiu Jitsu.
Montana lands a nice looking body shot.
We've been told by Montana's head coaches at GWad's Playpen that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Jitsu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Montana's waist but Montana gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jitsu off to one side.
Montana looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Jitsu on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Montana cracks Jitsu with an open hand slap.
Jitsu avoids a kick to the body.
Jitsu ducks under a wild hook from Montana.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jitsu is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Montana throws a combination that misses

so Jitsu counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Montana has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Jitsu has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jitsu is looking for a takedown.
Montana misses with a punch on the inside.
Montana is pressed up against the cage. Jitsu has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Montana down to the mat. Montana avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jitsu takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Montana lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jitsu on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Montana throws a lazy body kick

and Jitsu decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Montana's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jitsu in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jitsu throws a strike but Montana rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Montana trying to control the position from guard on top but Jitsu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jitsu looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Montana has picked Jitsu up and slammed him! Jitsu can't keep hold of the triangle and Montana manages to pass to side control!
Jitsu manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jitsu wants to free his trapped foot but Montana is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Montana controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Jitsu is working for a kimura but Montana is defending it quite comfortably.
Montana is concentrating on defense, preventing Jitsu from advancing position.

Jitsu is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jitsu thows a huge punch but Montana dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Montana trying to hold on to Jitsu's head to control him but Jitsu postures up.

Jitsu seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Montana is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jiu Jitsu!
Jiu Jitsu is the new light heavyweight champion!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Jiu Jitsu made sure he mentioned Urban Fighter, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
