The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shakur shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Halifax eats them both and turns towards Shakur to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Shakur looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Halifax closes the distance and clinches up with Shakur, looking for a takedown. Halifax pushes Shakur against the cage but Shakur circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Halifax shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shakur defends it nicely.
Halifax throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shakur's waist but Shakur gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Halifax off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Halifax. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shakur won't allow Halifax to sweep him here.

Halifax feints a jab promting Shakur to slip. Halifax then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Shakur slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Halifax lands a nice looking body shot.
Joe Halifax seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shakur looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Halifax is looking to wear down Shakur with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Halifax throws an overhand right that drops Shakur like a sack of potatoes! Halifax dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!
