PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Moreno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gotti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gotti has chosen Money as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alvin Moreno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Gotti!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotti shoots in looking for a takedown. Moreno tries to sprawl out of it but Gotti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Moreno manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Moreno throws a head kick but Gotti moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Moreno enables Gotti to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Moreno manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Moreno had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gotti defends it easily.
Gotti controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gotti perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gotti stalling away here and it's allowed Moreno to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Gotti is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Moreno will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Moreno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gotti doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gotti manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Gotti controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Moreno has his foot on Gotti's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gotti works his way back into a safe position though.

Gotti is fighting to break Moreno's control of his arms but Moreno is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gotti fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Moreno keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alvin Moreno has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Gotti.
Moreno dives in for a single leg takedown but Gotti sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Moreno goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Moreno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gotti was covering up waiting for the punch and Moreno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Moreno accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown attempt by Moreno or perhaps it was just good defense by Gotti, which made it look bad.
Gotti closes the distance and clinches up with Moreno, looking for a takedown. Gotti pushes Moreno against the cage but Moreno circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Moreno really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Moreno shoots for a double leg takedown but Gotti sprawls well. He's pushed Moreno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
It seemed like Gotti was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Gotti goes for a double leg but Moreno avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Moreno continues to drive forward.
Moreno lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Gotti backs up against the cage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Moreno closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gotti quickly recovers to half guard.
Gotti has hold of Moreno's hands but Moreno slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Gotti is trying is best to control the position here.
Moreno is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gotti can do to turn this around?

John Gotti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Moreno throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Gotti tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gotti is trying to control Moreno's posture but Moreno avoids it.

Moreno tries for a kimura but Gotti is defending well.
Moreno misses with the ground and pound.
Gotti is looking to regain half guard here but Moreno keeps moving and retains side control.

Moreno is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gotti is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gotti regains half guard, as Moreno was trying to land strikes.

Well Moreno has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
