Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Maul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strikes staying out of range there.
Strikes now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Maul misses with a double jab.
Maul connects with a good right hand that stumbles Strikes. Strikes circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Strikes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Strikes keeps Maul at a distance using the push kick.
Strikes tries to close the distance and clinch but Maul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Strikes uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maul.
Maul looks to land a left hand but Strikes moved out of range nicely.
Strikes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Maul throws a series of punches but Strikes moves out of range.
Maul lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Maul cracks Strikes with a good jab.
Strikes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Maul is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Strikes has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Maul finds it's way round the side to connect with Strikes's head.

Maul throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Strikes on the side of the head.

Strikes looks for a takedown but Maul sprawls well.

Maul throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Strikes on the side of the head.
Strikes takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Strikes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Maul connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

That has opened up Carlos Strikes's cut even more.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maul digs a good body shot into Strikes's ribs.
Maul scores with a hook to the body. Strikes takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Jab, jab by Maul - just one landing.
Maul cracks Strikes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Strikes walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Maul throws out a powerful jab.

Strikes is rocked!
Maul lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Strikes is still on wobbly legs! Can Maul finish him?

The cut above Carlos Strikes's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Maul lands with a right that hurts Strikes. Strikes looks to clinch but Maul throws a short knee that drops Strikes. This one is all over!

Paul Maul decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
