PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Eduardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eduardo has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, King Yang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Eduardo!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Eduardo.
Yang shoots for a double leg takedown but Eduardo sprawls well. He's pushed Yang's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Eduardo is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Yang closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Eduardo's guard.

Eduardo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Yang avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yang's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Eduardo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Yang is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Eduardo.

Yang gets to mount! Eduardo was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Eduardo is looking to improve his position but Yang isn't that keen on the idea.

Yang manages to capitalize on a mistake by Eduardo to take his back!

Eduardo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Yang's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
A lull in the action here.
Yang is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Eduardo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Yang has the hooks in. Eduardo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yang has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Eduardo's body.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yang has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Eduardo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Yang lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Eduardo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Yang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Eduardo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Yang defends it easily.

Yang has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Eduardo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Yang seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Yang looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Yang keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Yang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Eduardo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Yang pulls his head out easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that King Yang will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Eduardo wants to take the fight to the mat but Yang manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Yang tries to circle away but Eduardo has him pinned against the cage.

Yang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Yang leaves Eduardo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
King Yang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Eduardo.

Yang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Eduardo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Eduardo bucks up and tries to throw Yang off but instead Yang has got his back!

What can Eduardo do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

We've been informed that Eduardo has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Yang slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Yang is looking to control Eduardo but Eduardo is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Well Yang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
